The E.W. Scripps Company, with support from Google, created a multiyear initiative to transition experienced journalists with primarily print news backgrounds into broadcast news careers: the Scripps Journalism Journey Initiative.
The program provides midcareer transitions into video-driven storytelling through extensive training and support, including mentoring, job shadowing, hands-on work and individual coaching.
Journalists selected for participation in the program will be hired into full-time career positions in Scripps local and national newsrooms. Positions may include investigative reporter/producer/executive producer, specialty/beat reporter, manager, digital reporter, data journalist, managing editor, story editor, documentary script writer, assignment editor.
The inaugural class of print journalists began their careers across Scripps local and national media newsrooms on Jan. 9, officially launching the Google-backed Journalism Journey Initiative.
We are now recruiting journalists for the second cohort. For more information, go to scripps.com/journalismjourney .
